Tedder rally bastardized at indy

This evening, the great tedder hall went to independence hall for their rally. As their rally progressed, it was learnt that indy guys started throwing water, waste products and dustbin baskets at the tedder guys. This caused an uproar as some tedder guys challenged indy guys to come down and face them.

A correspondent said tedder guys were the first to throw pure water sachets at them.

They left independence hall after warning indy guys not to come to their hall during their rally.

Asuu finally agrees with the fedral government

The striking university lecturers, ASUU, have agreed to consider the federal government’s offer and suspend their strike.
The agreement comes after 12 hours, 30 minutes of a closed door meeting between ASUU and a government delegation in Abuja.
The leadership of ASUU, however, said though it accepted the proposal presented by the government, it will take the proposal to its members and get back to the government in a week.
Biodun Ogunyemi, the national president of ASUU, told journalists after the meeting that the union will come back after one week to take its final decisions.
“Now we have some concrete proposal that we will take back to our members for consideration,” he said.
On his part, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said ASUU’s demands have been addressed and the union will get back to the government in a week after consulting with its principals.
The meeting started 1:38pm on Thursday and ended 2:15 a.m. on Friday.

Buhari arrives in Daura for sallah

 President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday travelled to his home town, Daura, Katsina State, for the Eid-El-Kabir celebrations. Governor Aminu Masari led top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, to receive him at the Umar Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, on his way to Daura.

The Emir of Katsina, Dr.Kabir Abdulmumin, was also at the airport to welcome the President. The presidential jet that brought Buhari to Katsina touched down at the tarmac of the airport at 4:06 pm.

After airport ceremonies, Buhari boarded a helicopter to his home town, Daura, where he is expected to spend the Eid-El-Kabir holiday.

27 killed as Boko Haram raids village

 At least 27 people were killed and dozens are still missing after terrorists belonging to Islamist group, Boko Haram, attacked six villages in the northern part of Borno State on Wednesday night, security and civilian sources said. The terrorists first arrived the remote villages of Abachari, Kote, Uda Lawanti and Wokilli, all in the Nganzi Local Government Area of Borno State, around 9:30 p.m., killing 15 people and leaving so many people  injured.

 
A source who is a civilian member of the Joint Task Force (JTF) said the besieged villagers yesterday came to the local vigilante group in Nganzi town. He said the vigilante group then mobilized its members to visit the affected villages on Friday morning, adding that the dead bodies had been brought to Nganzi for burial.
 
“The attacks happened in the villages on Wednesday night, but it was this morning that we brought fifteen of the corpses and buried them in Nganzi town,” said the source. He added, “As I am speaking with you many women and children are still missing.”

JAMB rectified 400,000 admissions in one year

 In the last one year, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has regularised over 400,000 admissions for students who had scored below cut-off marks, among various irregularities, the board’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has said. Oloyede, who made the disclosure in an exclusive interview with _Saturday PUNCH _in Lagos on Friday, said many universities and other tertiary institutions had engaged in the irregular admission of candidates for 10 years.

The former vice-chancellor of the University of Ilorin also said within his first six weeks of resumption as the JAMB’s Registrar, at least 100 tertiary institutions had asked the board to regularise the admissions of 17, 160 students, who had similarly not been admitted the proper way.

He said such institutions had been making pronouncements on cut-off marks that they had failed to follow, adding that the recent lowering of cut-off marks for the board’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination from 180 to 120 and 100 would give schools the chance to do the right thing.

UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN, 2017/2018 ADMISSION

This is to inform prospective candidates who made University of Ibadan their first choice, parents and other stakeholders that following the Policy meeting chaired by the Honourable Minister of Education in Abuja on Tuesday, 22 August, 2017, the 2017/18 admission exercise in the University will commence very soon. Candidates are therefore requested to note the criteria for the admission exercise as listed below:

UTME CUT-OFF POINT FOR THE UNIVERSITY

The Institutional UTME cut-off point for the University is still 200 marks. Therefore, only candidates who scored 200 and above are eligible to participate in the screening exercise that will take place at a time to be announced later. For the avoidance of doubt, any candidate with a score below 200 will not be considered for the screening.

POST UTME SCREENING

Candidates are requested to note that a written post UTME screening exercise will be held at a date to be communicated very soon. To this effect, candidates are advised to be on the lookout for the date and other modalities for the written test. The authentic website from which all details about the post UTME exercise can be obtained is http://www.edu.ui.ng . The University will not take any responsibility for any misleading and fraudulent information that may be obtained from any other website apart from the official University website.

CENTRAL ADMISSION PROCESSING SYSTEM (CAPS)
The 2017/18 admission exercise will be based on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), a system designed by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to automate the admissions process to tertiary institutions. The system introduces a number of innovations into the admission process. These include opportunities for candidates to confirm provisional admissions thus eliminating cases of multiple admission or ignorance about admission status. Candidates are therefore advised to familiarize themselves with the process to enable them check and track their admission status at any point in time on the JAMB portal.

LOGIN IN OF BIODATA.
Candidates will be able to login their biodata, prelude the post UTME screening with effect from the last week in August, 2017. Candidates should therefore be on the lookout for the opening of the portal. Please note that there will not be any extension to the closing date of the portal as the University is running behind schedule.
